Holiday Day Camp

Get into the holiday spirit by coming to our Holiday Day Camp!

Art Classes

We are excited to offer a six week art course

for our 4-H youth this year!

Youth will learn a variety of different methods and techniques to broaden their knowledge of art.

Each class will cover a different topic including, lines, shapes, colors, paints, 3D forms, Value and prism art, shadows, textures and more!

 

To sign up for this amazing opportunity youth must be registered for the current 4-H year.

Beginning date: Thursday December 7th
and every Thursday after until January 18th

 

YOUTH ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL CLASSES

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOUTH CAN ATTEND EVERY CLASS!

AGES: 8-18, Cloverbuds (ages 5-7) are allowed to participate as long as a parent accompanies them the entire time.

This meeting will go over supplies needed as well as location information and time and requirements for this club. This club is for ages 8-18. Youth must be 8 as of Jan. 1.

Youth will not be shooting at this meeting.

Cost for this club will be $20.00 as well as $5.00 every time the club meets at Archery Idaho.

Youth must register for 4-H before first archery club practice.

Parents and youth please come to this meeting if you are interested in learning more about our 4-H archery program!

Premiums available now!

County and state fair premiums are available to pick up in the Extension office. Come by and pick up your monies as well as any remaining projects and record books from fair! We are open Monday through Friday 8-5. Premiums and projects not picked up by Dec. 31 will be forfeited.

4-H online is still not available for registration. The state office does not have a timeline about when updates will be finished. We will post an update when registration opens.

Please wait to try to register until Monday Oct. 9th, however, if you have questions we will not be in the office on Monday as our office will be closed for Columbus Day. Pool party and picnic tonight!

We will be selling raffle tickets at the family swim and picnic tonight at McCowin Park! Raffle is for a dutch oven with a stand, lid grabber, smokestack, pancake mix, syrup, and 25 lbs of sausage. Raffle winner will be drawn on August 10th before the Livestock Auction. Raffle tickets are 1 for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00

Make sure if you are in a market livestock class to add a showmanship class as well. You are able to pay ultrasound fees online by selecting credit. If you would like to pay at the office select check. You may pay cash or check in the office. Do not continue to payment until you have registered all of they youth in your family. Fair entry will be open now through Thursday July 27th at 5:00 P.M.

4-H youth may now sign up for county demonstrations at the Extension office. Demo day is July 27th. Cut off to register is Monday, July 24th. Registration for a County Demo slot is $5.00 per youth. The $5.00 is returned on day of demonstration once it is completed. If you do not show up for your time slot the $5.00 is forfeited to help fund our Advisory scholarships.

·         Experiment with different blade pitches to see how it affects the wind turbine’s rotor speed and performance

 Rockets to the Rescue- Blast off! Have fun crafting and blasting off your own stomp rocket! June 12-13 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 for ages 8 and up. Limit 15 participants. Cost is $10.00

·         Design and build an aerodynamic Food Transportation Device (FTD)
·         Design and build a stomp rocket
·         Develop a basic understanding of aerospace engineering through hands-on activities

Dutch Oven Cooking –For the whole family to enjoy! $10.00 per person. This is an evening camp from 6-9P.M. June 12-15^th Come learn and fill your belly with some delicious treats!

·         How to season, clean and care for your dutch oven
·         Learn different ways to use/cook with your dutch oven
·         Start a recipe file
·         Side dishes, main dishes, breads, soups & desserts

Air pistol/Rifle Basic Shooting- All day Friday June 16 from 9A.M.-3 P.M. Bring a sack lunch. For ages 8 and up. For those who want to test their aim we have a fun-filled day of shooting sports! Limit 15 participants.

·         Fun activities
·         Acknowledgement of Risk and Waiver of Liability Parent/Guardian Permission Slip Required.

Aprons: Beginning Sewing

Learn how to sew 2 aprons from start to finish. Measure from a pattern and create your own custom look. We will have kits available to choose from the first day of class. June 12-15 1-4 P.M. Cost is $20.00 this class is for beginners. If you are in the sewing club we recommend choosing the advance sewing class offered. Limit 12 participants.

 

Zip Sweatshirt: Intermediate/Advanced Sewing

This class is for our advanced sewing participants. It is required that you have taken at least one previous 4-H sewing course in order to participant in this class. Advance your knowledge of sewing by learning how to insert a zipper and put in pockets. Fleece material will be used. We will have kits available to choose from the first day of class. Limit 12 participants Cost is $25.00

Animal Nutrition 101

Friday May 12th,there will be a presentation about basic animal nutrition and it will be discussing multiple species. Earl Cole will be speaking. This presentation will be from 6-7 P.M. at the Extension office. Youth may count this as one 4-H meeting.

Shooting Sports Postponed

Shooting Sports will be postponed until May 18th. It will resume on the 18th in the Jack Hamilton Building from 7-9 P.M.

Come join a great program that will teach youth all about the basics of gardening. The best part is you'll get to eat what you grow! For ages 8-18!
For those who like to work outdoors and get their hands dirty, plant seeds, watch them sprout, and grow into edible plants, flowers, fruits, veggies—this project is for you! A garden project is for growing plants and you. A goal is to develop a responsible, productive, individual. While having lots of fun!
We will meet in the basement classroom and the garden on the hill.

Archery on 4/5/17

Just a reminder that Archery will be shooting outdoors today! We will be shooting at the range at Sandy Downs. The range is located on E. 65th just east of the Sandy Downs Arena. For those who are unfamiliar to the area, it's situated between Hitt Rd. and Woodruff, being closest to Hitt Rd. If you are coming from Hitt Rd., take a right on E. 65th (my landmark is the end of the golf course and the high voltage power lines) and continue west- you'll see the targets on your left. The entry gate is just before the canal. For those coming from Woodruff, take a left on E. 65th (landmark the Sandy Downs arena) and drive east and turn into the entry right after the canal.
Be sure to wear warm clothes, waterproof shoes, hats and gloves and sweatshirts/polar fleece jackets.

4-H Fundraiser Easter Basket

Wondering what to get for your significant other, friends, or family for Easter? Come visit the Extension office in Bonneville County and pick up an adorable Easter Basket full of goodies which includes: 4 bath bombs, 3 lotion bars, 1 jar of body butter, 1 bath scrubbie, and a chocolate Easter Bunny and a plush bunny!

Cost is $15.00 per basket.
Office Hours are Monday through Friday 8-5 P.M.
Baskets will be available until Friday, April 14th.
